The Yamaha MT-15 was launched last year in the international market and the motorcycle was spotted at a dealership in India earlier this week ahead of its official debut next month on Mid March 2019. Dealers had already begun accepting bookings of unofficially for an amount of Rs 5,000 for the upcoming naked motorcycle.

The Yamaha MT-15 is basically the naked version of Yamaha YZF-R15 V3 which have already popular. The Bike shares most of the cycle parts with the R15 V3 but it misses out on the aluminum swingarm that is offered in the Supersport. The bike is equipped with a swingarm type box and in the front is maintained with conventional telescopic fork setup for suspension setup, while the international spec motorcycle is equipped with Upside Down(USD) forks.

Yamaha MT-15 Overview

Yamaha’s MT-15 First time in India has been spotted with camouflage in a matte blue shade. The color on its Indonesian-spec motorcycle which also present. But it missing out on the fluoro-colored wheel that also has a different spoke alloy design. There is also the alloy wheels in the India-spec bike are taken from the R15 v3.0 and much similar to the Y-spoke design found abroad. On March 15 at the Buddh International Circuit Yamaha India will be launching the baby MT-15. It is likely to be priced at Rs 1.2 lakh, showroom, and as the entrance-level performance motorcycle will take on the KTM 200 Duke.

Leaked Road Transport documents indicate that the upcoming India-spec MT-15 is equivalent to the India-spec R15 v3.0. The bike MT-15 Test mules were spotted testing in India. It will be the first Yamaha’s MT motorcycle to be built in India, as the other motorcycle in the range, the MT-09, is a CBU product. The Yamaha MT-15 is basically the popular version of the naked Yamaha R15 v3.0. It is expected that the new motorcycle will price around Rs 1.2 lakh to 1.3 lakh, and will compete against the new KTM 125 Duke. The bodywork design of the bikes is the same as the one sold in the international market. Also, the seat is the same, and the headlight silhouette indicates that bike gets the same LED unit as the Thai-spec bike. Yamaha MT-15, however, has chosen to go up front with telescopic forks up front and a box-section swingarm at the rear to keep the price competitive. On the other hand, The one in the Thailand market gets inverted forks and a swingarm of aluminum.

Yamaha’s MT-15 is the YZF-R15 super sports machine streetfighter version. It will have the same chassis, suspension and powertrain as the R15, but it will contain with tweaks to other things such the rear subframe, and the riding position.

It loses the styling fairing of the R15 is in line with Yamaha’s MT series of motorcycles. It will have a higher handlebar and may be less aggressive positioning of the footpeg. It could also get result conventional front forks, as does the R15 on the Indian market.

The MT-15 is priced just below the R15 and will compete with the KTM 125 Duke and Bajaj Pulsar NS200 as direct competition. Its price of this bike also will significantly overlap with the FZ25, another from Yamaha streetfighter bike.
